Allen Iverson is heading back to the States for surgery and denying retirement rumors from his Turkey team, Besiktas. Iverson's manager, Gary Moore, is telling the Associated Press that his client "totally disputes" that he is retiring.
Yahoo! reports a lesion needs to be removed from AI's right leg that will take four to six weeks to rehab from, but he will return to Istanbul after a full recovery.
"People need to know that Allen is and always has been a fighter," Moore said. "He's got a battle ahead of him."
The former NBA star arrived in Istanbul to play overseas in November 2010, agreeing to a $4 million, two-year contract with the Turkish league.
Contractually, Iverson has another year on the team.
