"American Idol" Castoff Pia Toscano Signs To Interscope

Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and several Pia Toscano fans were shocked when she got prematurely booted from American Idol (finishing in 9th place). She had the look and one of the strongest voices in the competition. But fret not, Jimmy Iovine sees something in her too. Toscano has officially signed a record deal with Interscope Records.

According to EW, her debut album will come out later this year, and her first single, “This Time” — an acoustic guitar and beat-driven track by Ester Dean — will drop July 12 just in time for Toscano to perform it as part of her set on this summer’s American Idols LIVE! tour.
