Just when it seemed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would never commit to holy matrimony in this lifetime, Pitt has finally put a ring on it!
According to the Associated Press, they announced their engagement Friday afternoon. Cynthia Pett-Dante, Pitt's manager, said that there isn't a wedding date "at this time." She also said that the engagement "is a promise for the future."
A rep for the future hubby's jeweler, Robert Procop, said that Pitt was hands-on in the process of designing the ring for a year. "Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite the controversy that surrounded their past marriages (Jolie to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton and Pitt to actress Jennifer Aniston), the megastar couple have six children, three biological and three adopted from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam.
The longtime pair, who have been together since 2005, frequently shot down the prospect of marriage in interviews, insisting they wouldn't wed till all couples were legally able to do so in the U.S.
Jolie was spotted rocking the ring at a private viewing of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Chinese Galleries on April 11, which she attended with Pitt and their son Pax.
