Comic book movie fans breathe a sigh of sadness as actress Anna Paquin will not be making an appearance in the upcoming Marvel movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The True Blood star's mutant persona, Rogue, was left on the cutting room floor, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly. Director Bryan Singer revealed that he had snipped a rescue scene involving Magneto, Professor X, Iceman and -- you guessed it -- Rogue, from the final film.
Sad enough for fans of Paquin's character, this was the only scene that included her character throughout the entire picture.
Singer explained the situation to EW.com:
"It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go ... Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."
The fan-favorite helmer made sure to note that the cut had nothing to do with Paquin's skill as an actress, even hinting that he would love to work with her in the future (possibly for X-Men: Apocalypse). According to Singer, he's already informed Paquin of the situation and says she "completely understood."
X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will follow after the events from X-Men: First Class, will star Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Ellen Page alongside James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult.
