In the wake of the recent "We Are The World 25" remake, there's another big collaboration in the works. This time, superstars from Mary J. Blige to John Legend, Three 6 Mafia, LL Cool J and Snoop Dogg are coming together to remake Quincy Jones' greatest hits.
The compilation disc, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra is set to drop on Interscope in May or June 2010 and will feature production and performances from a who’s who in the game, including Jennifer Hudson, Wyclef Jean, Usher and Jamie Foxx.
Jones, a 27-time Grammy Award winner, will lend his time and expertise as executive producer on the huge project.
“Each artist picked a song that really resonated with them for different reasons - some of them having a connection because they remembered their parents playing the track when they were growing up,” Jones said in a statement. “I am honored that everyone wanted to be a part of this celebration of these songs. They all made them their own, and knocked them out of the park."
The first release from the project is Akon’s reindition of the 1977 Brothers Johnson hit "Strawberry Letter 23."
“Just being around him and watching him work over the years has taught me how to develop as an artist and grow as a producer,” Akon said.
Another feature on the album will be a Jamie Foxx tune produced by David Banner and a T-Pain, as well as a Robin Thicke remake of Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.” --Linda Hobbs
