When Ariana Grande’s cover of Mariah Carey’s “Emotions” circulated around YouTube in 2012, the Nickelodeon starlet turned heads with her impressive vocals. The video garnered over seven million views and instant comparisons to Mimi.

For Grande’s next LP My Everything, the pop sweetheart taps rappers, including Big Sean, Childish Gambino and A$AP Ferg, who was quick to call her “the next Mariah Carey.”

The Harlemite explained to MTV News, “I see her as that next big voice that’s gonna pop.” He also kept a tight lip about their collabo “Hands On Me,” only calling it “a dope song.”

While the duo may seem like an unlikely combo, Ferg makes it known that he runs in the same circles as many of your fav pop stars. “It’s not really strange because I do a lot of festivals, like Coachella, Bonnaroo [and] people don’t see what happens behind stage,” he said. “I’m a rapper, but Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas comes to my trailer, I’m hanging out with Selena Gomez… and all of these people that love my music.”

Check out their cameo on My Everything dropping August 25.
