Athletes are constantly being scrutinized and a lot of misconceptions are developed based on their chosen profession. Quite often, they get categorized as players, cheaters and wild boys that partake in reckless activities, but Atlanta Falcons player Ray Edwards gives new meaning to the stereotype.
Vixen had the chance to catch up with the handsome defensive end as he revealed that there is a sweet, gentle side under his rough exterior.
VIBE VIXEN: What’s the dating scene like for a pro-athlete? Do woman usually throw themselves at you, or do you do most of the initiating?
RAY EDWARDS: It’s kinda 50/50. It depends on what mood I’m in, because right now, I’m really kinda chillin’. I guess that equates to women coming to introduce themselves to me. I mean, I’m open.
Are you out on the club scene a lot, or are you more of a homebody?
I’m a laid back kinda guy. I might check out a lounge or a comedy show, movies or restaurants. I’m not really a club guy.
Describe your ideal woman.
I definitely like a nice body. A woman that looks like she spends some time in the gym and carries herself like a lady. I don’t mind you drinking, but you can’t be looking wasted and getting wasted in the club. Throwing the bottle up to your mouth and bringing it right back, that’s unattractive. Just carry yourself like a lady.
Do you appreciate a God-fearing woman?
Absolutely. You know, without God, I wouldn’t be where I am today. That’s definitely a big thing for me.
When meeting a woman, do you usually have your guard up, thinking maybe a female has a hidden agenda?
I never have my guard up. I always put my best foot forward and hopefully she’ll do the same and be genuine. But you know, after a while the true person comes out. Like Chris Rock said, you meet their representative in the first 60 to 90 days. That’s the sad thing.
