Back in July, Azealia Banks and Lily Allen got into a petty, silly Twitter spat. A quick recap: Banks insulted Allen’s husband, Allen called Banks a one-hit wonder, Banks said Allen has “ugly children and a coke habit.” It was a childish and completely stupid exchange, as most Twitter beefs are. But one good thing came out of it: Allen says the feud ultimately motivated her to write new music.
“There was one person that was particularly nasty to me on Twitter for no apparent reason. And I was struggling with finding my voice — not my singing voice, because I’ve never found that — but my writing voice,” Allen explained to Nick Grimshaw of BBC Radio 1 in a recent interview.
