Backstreet Boys Give Blessing to Tell-All Movie Documentary

The '90s boy band is making a comeback... on the big screen. We have details for you after the jump.

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson will all be the subject of an upcoming documentary film from director Stephen Kijak (Cinemania).

The flick will focus on the band's meteoric rise to superstardom and continued success as a group. "We always wanted to make a film and now is the ideal time - with Kevin back, the fact that we are masters of our own destiny, a new album in the works and our 20th anniversary all adds up to being the right time to share our story," the band said in a statement.

Kijak made a film profiling The Rolling Stones (Stones in Exile) and in a report by The Hollywood Reporter, he speaks on what brought him to work with the acclaimed boy band. "What drew me to this project is their openness and willingness to push themselves into uncomfortable places, to be vulnerable and honest and to be really trusting of the filmmaking team to steer them in the right direction," Kijak said.

THR reports that Backstreet Boys - The Movie is set for a theatrical release and should be completed by this fall.
