Beats By Swizz? Producer Cops Co-Ownership Stake In Monster

Beats By Swizz? Producer Cops Co-Ownership Stake In Monster

Megan Guard Posted February 6, 2013

Monster Cable has a new superproducer in the fold.

In the, uh, aftermath of Dr. Dre's 2012 split with Monster, the consumer audio brand has picked up Swizz Beatz, whose purchased a co-ownership stake in the company and will be joining as a member of the company's executive board.

“Monster has always been a go-to name for music electronics as well as a big part of music culture," says Swizz, acknowledging Monster head Noel Lee's leadership. "The company has literally been changing the way people listen to music for over 30 years. They built an empire, and my job will be to push the envelope–turn the lights of the castle up really bright and help Monster take its next big step forward."

Lee sees the vision, too. "The products that we have planned are revolutionary in technology, sound, and style," he says. "We need the talents and reach of Swizz to help bring these products to life in the eyes of the consumer.”

Swizz Beatz is known for his work with the likes of Jay-Z, Beyonce and Kanye West as well as marketing for Reebok and Lotus Cars. Clearly, he's already pumped about his next endeavor.

"There will be some very exciting things happening in the year ahead," Swizz says, "so stay tuned!” —Megan Guard
