Beyoncé Drops Role In Clint Eastwood's 'A Star Is Born' Remake

Beyoncé Drops Role In Clint Eastwood's 'A Star Is Born' Remake

Adelle Platon Posted October 10, 2012

Looks like Clint Eastwood's upcoming film has lost its starpower.

According to Variety, sources say that Beyoncé has dropped her lead role from the actor/director's A Star Is Born remake due to a packed schedule. Warner Bros. had no comment.

Knowles was set to play the promising young performer that Barbra Streisand was billed in the 1976 version, who falls in love with an older fading star, played by Kris Kristofferson in the same cast. Rumor has it that with the "Crazy In Love" singer off the credits, there is interest in jazz musician Esperanza Spalding though no offers are being made till the male lead is locked in.

Among those reportedly being sought out include Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp and, most recently, Bradley Cooper.
