The "Sound of Change Live" Concert has announced its official headliners for the upcoming event that celebrates women empowerment. With activists Gloria Steinem and Bishop Desmond Tutu onboard to help spread the message, the concert will take place in London on Saturday (June 1).
Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Florence + the Machine are set to headline the all-star gig, which will reach a billion people through live stream. Taking place at the Twickenham sports stadium the concert will reach 150 countries, and the show will also be played on primetime TV in the U.S.
According to organizers, the four-hour concert could fund at least 120 projects supporting women and girls in more than 70 nations, if all the tickets are sold. Madonna is also set to appear as a presenter.
"Sixty percent of the children in the world not in school are girls," Madonna said. "Two-thirds of the world's illiterate are women. I do not accept this. We need to change this and we will change this."
