Word on the street is that Beyonce and Leonardo DiCaprio may be teaming up for Clint Eastwood’s upcoming musical remake of A Star Is Born. According to Deadline, Eastwood has already given Leo a nod and is hoping to have the two work together.
“I hear Clint Eastwood is using his time with Leonardo DiCaprio on the J Edgar Hoover biopic to discuss the director's new Warner Bros project A Star Is Born,” Deadline reported. “Clint is hoping to team Leo with Beyoncé, who's already set for the musical. Clint is producing through Malpaso as well as helming the script by Will Fetters. Producers are Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters (who made the infamous version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson).”
Leonardo wasn’t the only one considered for the male lead. Guardian reports Will Smith as a previous candidate, along with Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr. and Mad Men's Jon Hamm.
Whether or not this blueprint will come into fruition is hard to determine at this point, but we’ll definitely be keeping tabs as the scoop unravels. What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Tell us how you feel! — Stephanie Long
