It might not be Wayne’s strongest lyrical performance of all-time. Hell, it’s not even the strongest lyrical performance on this album. But there’s just something about this intro that’s always stuck with us. It’s as if Weezy told the engineer in the studio to start recording and thought, “I’m the best rapper alive and I’ll rap however the $^%& I want to on my intro track…and guess what? You’ll like it!” And because of his body of work and the stranglehold that Weezy had on the game at the time, guess what? We did!
