In the 1970’s The Godfather transformed the cinematic depiction of the Italian mafia, as Goodfellas did the 1990s. And from the 1999 into the 2000s, The Sopranos brought the secrets of the La Cosa Nostra to the small screen in a big screen way. And now HBO’s new crime drama Boardwalk Empire, reinvents the mob tale for 2010 by flashing back to the past to tell the tale of how Atlantic City came to be admist the Prohibition era. Boardwalk Empire stars Steve Buscemi, Michael K. Williams (of The Wire) and Michael Pitt. It was created by Sopranos scribe Terrance Winter and is directed by Goodfellas director Martin Scorsese, so you know it’s got to be good. Here’s a sneak peak. It premieres Sunday September 19th at 9pm ET/PT.—Ronke Idowu Reeves
