BOOMSHOTS Heavy Rotation: Jah Cure, Rick Ross, Mavado & Gregory Isaacs

Music

Once again we’re locked and loaded with Certified Boomshots. Jah Cure and the SoBe family dropped the week’s hottest heatrock with “How I See It,” featuring Rick Ross and Mavado. “Jamaica stand up,” Cure commands, sending this one straight to “all the rude boys in the capital,” and with The Gully Gaad touching up the hook you know the streets are listening. Talk about Three The Hard Way. Ricky Rozay already did Big Meech and Larry Hoover—now the Bawse is lickin’ shots for Dudus.

The week started on a sad note when reggae legend Gregory Isaacs passed away on Monday. Check out The Cool Ruler’s official Boomshots obituary. Of course we had to remember him with two classic joints: First comes a classic Lovers’ Rock selection. Mr. Isaacs himself told me this 1981 selection was one of his personal favorites. Rock-solid groove courtesy of the Roots Radics band (Style Scott and Flabba Holt on drum and bass, Bingi Bunny and Steely on riddim). Gregory himself told me this was one of his favorites, so get familiar.

Next up it’s Gregory alongside Dennis Brown inna ’88 dancehall style with “Big All Around” produced by Gussie Clarke and the Music Works posse. Two late-great legends of reggae on one hard digital track. Run that!

Raggamuffin… mek you bad so?
