Brandy Settles Lawsuit Over Fatal Car Accident

John Kennedy / November 14, 2009

Brandy has finally settled with the remaining plaintiffs involved in her 2006 car crash.

Though many of the final settlements are private, TMZ reports that Brandy gave $300,000 each to the children of a woman name Awatef Aboudihaj, who died in the crash.

In a December 2008 suit filed in the L.A. County Superior Court, Donald Lite, who was involved in the crash, stated that Brandy wasn’t paying attention to road rules when the accident occurred. He says that he now has a pile of hospital bills due to “serious and permanent injuries.”

In a VIBE issue that same month, Shanel Odum reported that Brandy was driving 65 mph on L.A.’s Sepulveda Boulevard, and rear-ended a Toyota Corolla driven by Aboudihaj. The collision caused a domino effect, and Aboudihaj later died at a local hospital.

Brandy ended up with a personal injury suit as well as three wrongful death suits.

“Without God I wouldn’t have made it through, if you know what I mean,” Brandy told VIBE. “I would have been lost…There was a point when I didn’t feel like it was okay to live on- because someone else lost their life.” –Linda Hobbs
