Swatting, the act of pranking the police department with a 911 call that something criminal is happening at a certain location, seems to be a new Hollywood epidemic.
The home of Bruce and Kris Jenner, frequently seen on the E! reality series Keeping Up With the Kardashians, was swarmed by cops after a 911 caller reported a shooting inside the home on Friday afternoon. The caller claimed that they were inside the house hiding in a closet from the gunman.
Police took the call seriously. They locked down the street, sent squad cars and a helicopter. Bruce, Kris, daughters Kylie and Kendall were all present and ordered from the home while the police searched it. Kendall posted photos of the scene that followed on Instagram.
"I love it when 8 police officers show up at my door and 10 cop cars are outside my house," she wrote. "Just another casual Friday evening at the Jenner household." Jenner said everything was ok, and the cops soon realized the whole thing was a hoax, but not after wasting the efforts of first repsonders.
Prior to the Jenner house, Tom Cruise was the latest victim of swatting. His Beverly Hills home was swarmed by police after they received a similar prank call.
