After eight months of artists and fans yelling “Free Weezy,” everyone can smile now. The man with the outer worldly skills on the mic is finally done with his eight month prison sentence for a 2007 gun charge. Lil Wayne left Rikers island around 8:30 am according to reports and his family, friends are fans have been rejoicing all day.

This afternoon, a close friend to the Cash Money family, Bun B, weighed in on @liltunechi’s homecoming.

“With Wayne, of course we’re all happy he’s home,” Bun assessed this afternoon via phone from Texas. The legendary co-founder of UGK has known the head of Young Money since Weezy was a teenager.

“I’m just hoping that whatever demons were on him and following him when he went inside, I hope that he left those demons inside that hell hole,” The Trill OG added. “Whatever it was he may have felt held him back or anything that may have kept him in situations he didn’t need to be in based on the person he is in this world. I hope whatever it is that was holding him back inside of him, leave all that shit inside the hole he just crawled out of. He’s in the free world now. He is the biggest star on the planet and it’s time for him to let himself be received.”

As one hip-hop mega star comes out of prison, another goes in. Just Monday, T.I. turned himself over to federal authorities to begin serving another 11 month prison sentence stemming from probation violation.

“I definitely send prayers to both families,” Bun said. ” I know there’s tears of joys in the Carter family. And there’s tears of pain in the Harris family. I’m definitely praying for both. Tip’s a strong guy. But prison’s nowhere to be. I know he can handle the time I just hate that he has to.” -Shaheem Reid
