Time to break from the ’90s for a moment to highlight one of music's most influential boy bands. Meant to be an incarnation of the Jackson 5, New Edition dropped loads of classic material that still gets the dance floors moving like crazy. One of my homeboys argues that when it comes to hits, they even trump Jackson 5! Though I beg to differ. But a favorite NE song of mine is their kitschy 1984 slow groove, "Mr. Telephone Man" - "Must be a bad connection/I've given my love and affection." Yeah, the video comes with a side of extra cheese and over-acting, but that was cool beans back then, or so I heard.
