Cali Swag District Rapper Murdered In Drive-By Shooting

Cali Swag District member M-Bone was shot and killed last night as a result of a drive-by shooting. Inglewood Police Department Homicide Sgt. Brian Spencer informed MTV News that M-Bone, born Montae Talbert, suffered two gunshot wounds to the head while sitting in his vehicle on Le Brea Avenue in Inglewood.

Witnesses say that the gunmen pulled alongside M-Bone while he was seated and unleashed at least two rounds of shots. The suspects fled northbound on La Brea. When police where called to the the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m. PST Sunday night, they found the 22-year-old rapper seated in the driver’s seat. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. 

Cali Swag District made a breakthrough last year with their dance crazed hit, “Teach Me How to Dougie,” which was an record dedicated to the moves of Doug E. Fresh. The dance continues to be infused with the latest dance hype today.Their debut album, The Kickback is due for a 2011 release. 

M-Bone leaves behind group members DJ C-Smoove, JayAre and Yung. Frontman C-Smoove tweeted took to Twitter to react on the shooting: “Ma life changed drastically in the blink of an eye. rip mbone,” early Monday morning.”

Details are sketchy but TMZ.com is now reporting: ‘”M Bone was next to his car in front of an Inglewood, CA liquor store at 11:32 PM Sunday when shots rang out. Our sources say the shooter was driving down La Brea Avenue alone in his car when he fired. Inglewood detectives are investigating, but right now it looks like M-Bone was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. We’re told M-Bone, who became famous with his group for the song, “Teach Me How to Dougie,” was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.”
