California Reneges On Tiger Woods' Congressional Medal

California Reneges On Tiger Woods' Congressional Medal

Posted December 10, 2009

As Tiger's world turns, a California representative has just announced that the pro golfer will no longer receive a Congressional Gold Medal due to his current mistress drama.

According to TMZ, Representative Joe Baca has pulled out of awarding Tiger Woods with the Congressional Gold Medal, after submitting a bill to award the golf star for his "service to the nation in promoting excellence and good sportsmanship, and in breaking barriers with grace and dignity by showing that golf is a sport for all people."

On Wednesday, Representative Baca released a statement saying, "In light of the recent developments surrounding Tiger Woods and his family, I will not pursue legislation awarding him the Congressional Gold Medal this session."

The Congressional Gold Medal is awarded by the United States Congress and is considered the highest Congressional civilian award in the United States.

The renege comes right after energy drink company Gatorade dropped Woods from his endorsement deal. --Linda Hobbs
