Legends in their own right, Kevin Saunderson’s pioneering techno project Inner City brought the subgenre the mainstream cred it deserved in the late 80’s (and beyond) with their top charting hits “Big Fun” and “Good Life”.
Now the Detroit-based group, along with Beatport, are giving aspiring producers a chance to be part of the history with the ‘Good Life’ remix contest. One lucky (and ‘techno’-logically talented) winner will be the recipient of a Native Instruments Traktor S4 DJ system, a custom Beatport Jetpack remix-gear bag by Orbit Concepts, and a copy of Beatport’s Sounds to Sample Elements sound pack. Plus, the winning remix will be signed to Suanderson’s KMS Records. “We’re looking forward to the remixes from the contest and hopefully we can grab something that’s exciting to go along with the remix package that we have coming,” says Saunderson. “We don’t look at it as a classic—we look at it as ‘Good Life’: the next 25.”
Interested parties should upload their “Good Life” remix by July 8 on the contest’s website.
