Cedric the Entertainer becomes the second Original King of Comedy to host a nationally syndicated game show.

Deadline broke the news that Ced will replace Meredith Vieira as the host of the ABC syndicated game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. According to their report, the comedian has closed a “multi-million” dollar deal in which he will receive a salary close to what Vieira was bringing in on her final season of the quiz show.

Vieira took over the show from then-host Regis Philbin in 2002 and has kept the show with high ratings for the past 11 seasons. She will continue to be seen on the pre-taped, all-new episodes through May and continue in re-runs which will air through the summer. Cedric will begin his hosting duties in September.

Best known as the co-star of the WB sitcom The Steve Harvey Show and as Eddie in the Barbershop films, but currently you can find the funnyman in the lead role in the sitcom The Soul Man on TV Land.
