Chris Tucker Talks Being M.I.A., Doing Stand-Up and Meeting Obama

VIBE Posted December 18, 2012

Money is a good reason to go M.I.A. For Chris Tucker, playing the popular role of Detective James Carter in all three "Rush Hour" films earned him enough dough to do whatever the hell he wanted since 1998.

The funny man recently stopped by "The View," with mama and sister in tow, to explain his absence and recall the first time he met Obama before he was President.

"I didn't fall off the map. I was working and went back to do stand-up in comedy clubs because stand-up, you get all the freedom and stand-up got me to the movies," Chris says. "I did it for the last six years and in theatres. I've just been having fun."

He also spoke on bonding with the Head-of-State. "[Obama and I] was in the car before he was running for senator in L.A. and he was late to a fundraiser, so we got in the car and we were talkin about little stuff like chicken and basketball."
