Christina Aguilera Defends 'X-Factor Performance,' Heaux Sh*t Vs Empowerment

Posted December 15, 2010

Christina Aguilera pissed some viewers off with a racy performance on The UK’s X-Factor this week. UK based newspaper The Daily Express reported that her performance of “Express” from her Golden Globe nominated movie Burlesque received over 1,000 complaints after her dancers provocatively bopped around on stage during the show’s broadcast.

"I don't think there is such a thing as too raunchy when it comes to the art form of burlesque," the singer explained at the U.K. premiere of the film. "It's very empowering to women to feel confident in their own skin and in their bodies and this represents that. Everyone in the spotlight is judged and there are many opinions out there, but I stick true to what I believe in." (via MTV)

First Keri Hilson’s video gave people conniptions now this. Why is it that when women get raunchy the first thing they say is, that it’s female empowerment.

We’re not judging but o questions to you is, was Christina too raunchy for TV and how do we determine the difference between heaux sh*t and female empowerment?
