ABC's prime time hit Scandal may be over but star Columbus Short still has a mess to clean up.
After news broke that Short threatened to kill himself and his wife during a heated argument, the actor addressed the domestic violence and divorce rumors on News One Live with Roland Martin.
“Saw a report yesterday about, you know, issues when it comes to your estranged wife filing for divorce; said that you threatened her — to kill her and commit suicide. Sounds like a real-life Olivia Pope,” said Martin. “Your thoughts on that?”
Short replied, “We have some amazing scriptwriters. It’s … life … life has the best scriptwriters of all time. That’s all I can say about that. But I’m still here. I’m standing. I’m talking. Let’s go!”
Since then, the Gladiator released a statement admitting that his attorneys had advised him not to comment on his marriage’s legal woes. “As you all know, lately my personal life has been subjected to a lot of press,” wrote Short. As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters.”
“Accordingly, I must refrain from making any comments, even though that is very difficult for me under the circumstances,” he added. “Thank you to my fans for your continued support during this difficult time."
