Common stopped by to chat with WGCI’s Tony Sculfield and the Morning Riot radio show in Chicago.
The crew followed up on his ongoing Drake "beef" and denied the fued was about Serena Williams. He was also asked what would happen if it ever escalated to G.O.O.D. Music versus YMCMB. Both camps facing off would put a lot of smiles on hip-hop heads, but let’s not get our hopes up just yet.
"If it had to get to teaming up, I’d get my squad too," Common told the host. "You can’t forget Kanye and the squad. But like I told him on the record, this is man-to man, one on one. We in the boxing ring as MCs."
“Sweet” has been the most-talked about single since Jay-Z addressed Auto-Tune rappers on “D.O.A.” But he states that the song is addressing the current climate of hip-hop. Although it wasn’t directly aimed at Drake, he still felt the need to talk about certain rappers falling into the category.
“That song “Sweet,” it really is not addressed specifically to dude. And then he came out and said some things and made them addressed to me and said some things on record, and so I just had to let him know on the mic, Chicago-style, this is what I do.” --Eric Diep
