Curren$y Sues Damon Dash Over Stolen Music

Vibe / March 25, 2012

Damon Dash is back to beefing with his artists!

Rapper Curren$y is suing the former Roc-A-Fella co-captain, with claims that Dash sold his albums without permission.

As TMZ reports, Curren$y tried to negotiate an agreement to release music with Dash in 2010, releasing two of his albums that year. When the two couldn’t reach an agreement on how those albums would be distributed, Curren$y signed with Warner Bros. in January 2011.

However, the lawsuit suggests that Damon continued releasing Curren$y’s music despite his new WB contract, which gave them exclusive rights to anything Curren$y released. With addition to wanting Damon to stop back-riding his new deal, Curren$y is asking for $1.5 million in damages.

Damon fired back and suggested that he has rights to release Curren$y’s music because he had permission from when the two initially made agreements to work together. He also says Curren$y betrayed him by going back on their agreement and signing with WB instead.
