Things have just gone from bad to worse for Jamaicai's reggae god, Buju Banton. According to Go-Jamaica the 38-year-old, birth name Mark Myrie, has been found guilty of three cocaine related charges.
Specifically, Buju was found guilty on conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine.
He was also found guilty for knowingly and intentionally possessing a firearm in furtherance of and during the course of a drug-trafficking crime as well as for aiding and abetting others in using a communication facility in the commission of a felony.
Buju who has adamantly claimed innocence throughout the trial was found not guilty for attempting to possess five kilograms or more of cocaine.
In denying the claims against him, Buju's attorney David Oscar Markus, argued that the reggae star was never a conscious or willing participant in the cocaine conspiracy.
Buju was arrested in December 2009 along with his close friend Ian Thomas and James Mack when an attempt was made to purchase coke from undercover cops in Florida. Thomas and Mack pleaded guilty, but Buju denied the charges opting to fight in a federal court to prove his innocence.
