'Dark Knight' Star Visits Aurora, Batman Comics Delayed

'Dark Knight' Star Visits Aurora, Batman Comics Delayed

Adelle Platon Posted July 25, 2012

After President Barack Obama visited with the victims of last week's Colorado shootings Sunday, another high-profile figure decided to make a persona visit to Aurora.

'Dark Knight Rises' star Christian Bale visited a makeshift memorial Tuesday with his wife and thanked medical staff and police officers who responded to the attack that killed 12 people with injured 58 others, the Associated Press reports.

The tragedy that took place in a local movie theatre Friday during a midnight showing of the Christopher Nolan-directed trilogy has affected the Batman brand overall.

According to USA Today, DC Comics asked retailers to delay selling Batman Incorporated Issue 3, which was scheduled for release in shops and online today, out of respect for the victims and their families. Its new on-sale date will be Aug. 22.

Batman Incorporated artist Chris Burnham tweeted Monday that the issue would be delayed a month because of "some grim imagery that would seem wholly inappropriate given the Aurora killings."

The shooter suspect James Holmes is currently in solitary confinement and forced to wear a mouthguard to protect jailers.
