We here at VIBE are absolutely fans of director Rik Cordero and his 3/21 Media crew. Last night, while surfing the wave of Instagram, a picture of him and director Chris Robinson (Real Husbands of Hollywood) led to a very interesting discovery.
The acclaimed film director has battled rumors surrounding a possible sequel to Clifford "T.I." Harris' 2006 film, ATL, for years now. Robinson, the man behind Robot Film Company, said back in 2009 that the speculation involving the was "pure rumor," and that the film could go into motion at the fans' request.
"We all joked about doing an ATL 2, and how down T.I.'s character would be running the comic section of the newspaper and what the twins would be doing," Robinson told Rap-Up. "But you never know. If the fans wanted it enough, there would definitely be a sequel." Well, guess the fans will finally get their wish. A picture with director Rik Cordero (Inside A Change, Starla) and Robinson prompted us to look deeper into the latter's own Instagram page. Much to our surprise, the Batlimore, Maryland filmmaker posted a very bold declaration four days ago, which grasped the imaginations of fans all over the web.
Check out the image below:
The image was simply "ATL" with a period at the end, but Robinson's caption captured our attention, as he wrote, "#II SPRING 2014." With over 60 comments and 154 likes, many movie fans are wondering just how true this word is, and if so, when will casting begin. As of press time, we were unable to get in contact with Mr. Robinson to confirm or deny his posting. But our hope is that this is true and we can pick-up with our favorite characters from this classic coming-of-age story.
