A $5 million lawsuit has been filed against Chris Rock, for accusations that he jacked the premise for his upcoming documentary Good Hair.
According to the suit filed Monday, Regina Kimbell alleges she showed rock her 2005 documentary My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage while on the set of Everybody Hates Chris, in 2007. Her documentary features black celebrities talking about popular black hairstyles from over the years, like Jheri curls and dreadlocks.
Kimbell, whose film won the best documentary prize at the 2007 Hollywood Black Film Festival, has accused Rock of copyright infringement and unfair competition. She reportedly wants "no less than $5 million" in damages and legal fees. --Linda Hobbs
