Sean "Diddy" Combs isn't the only one in his family capable of making hits. His son Justin Combs—a 5-foot-9, 175-pound cornerback for Iona Prep—is also quite capable of making them, too. And he'll try to prove it to the nation next year when he begins attending UCLA on a football scholarship. He chose to play for the Bruins after weighing other scholarship offers from the University of Wyoming, the University of Virginia, and the University of Illinois.
"Today, I am truly blessed and thankful to accept my scholarship and give my full commitment to UCLA," Justin Combs said in a statement released by the Combs family. "Playing Division I football was a lifelong dream of mine, and through hard work, I was able to achieve it. I am a living testament that with a strong relationship with God, family, and hard work, dreams do come true."
Aside from announcing his intent to attend UCLA, Diddy's son also revealed that he has been selected to play in the first-ever Marine Semper Fi All-American Game, which is set to be held on January 3, 2012 as part of the Fiesta Bowl weekend. He also says that, football aside, he plans on majoring in Business Finance at UCLA. All of this has understandably made his father very proud.
"As a parent, today is one of the proudest moments of my life," Diddy said through the family's statement. "This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about. Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination, and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream."
Justin Combs will enroll at UCLA beginning next fall and join a team that finished 6-6 this season and qualified for the Pac-12 Championship Game.
