Section 80s babies will remember where they were at the moment Cory Matthews and Topenga tied the knot — is it time to bring the gang back together?
TVLine learned exclusively that The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a "Boy Meets World" spin-off for the masses to enjoy. The would-be sequel series is tentatively titled "Girl Meets World," and sources say that the cable network is trying to bring back original series stars Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga) to reprise their roles as the lifelong sweethearts who married before their ABC sitcom ended its seven-season run.
The new series would center on their preteen daughter.
Casting for the central role is currently under way with "Boy Meets World" executive producer Michael Jacobs leading the way. At the time of writing this, there is no official word on whether Savage or Fishel would hop back into the saddle should the follow-up make it to the pilot or series stage. Since the ABC sitcom ended, Ben Savage has went on to have successful guest-star gigs on "Bones," "Chuck" and "Without a Trace." Meanwhile, the always gorgeous Danielle Fishel has had acting work that includes "National Lampoon Presents: Dorm Daze" and a hosting gig on Style Network's "The Dish."
