Disney Hires New Writer For "Tron 3"; Gets Serious About Project

It doesn't matter that Disney shelled out $8 billion dollars to acquire Lucasfilm, the House of Mouse is proving it hasn't forgotten about its other high-concept sci-fi franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Disney is in negotiations with screenwriter Jesse Wigutow ("It Runs in the Family") to write a new draft of the "Tron 3" script. David DiGillio wrote a previous version of a sequel to 2010's "Tron: Legacy" film, yet it is unclear if Wigutow will work from that or start from scratch. THR claims that Disney Chairman Alan Horn is pushing for the film to be "developed with a renewed purpose."
Plot details for "Tron 3" are being kept under lock and key, but "Tron: Legacy" definitely left room for a sequel. "Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski is attached to direct "Tron 3" as well. Cast members Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, who all starred in "Tron: Legacy," are not all confirmed for their return for this new movie.
