Disney's CEO Bob Iger Confirms Stand-Alone 'Star Wars' Films

Disney's CEO Bob Iger Confirms Stand-Alone 'Star Wars' Films

VIBE Pop Culture Posted February 6, 2013

Earlier this week, we reported a rumor that LucasFilm and Disney were going to roll out some Star Wars standalone films with one focusing on Yoda. Today, we have some confirmation to that story.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, in a rare television appearance, confirmed to millions of young padawons the plans for standalone films that are to be written by Simon Kinberg and Lawrence Kasdan.

Despite being asked for specifics, Iger did not confirm any characters that would appear in those films, but our hope is that Boba Fett gets the first crack at the box office. Instead, Iger defers by saying, "I'm going to leave it to Kathy and the LucasFilm team to reveal details when they're ready."

Fortunately, he does say that director J.J. Abrams (who is handling helming duties for Episode VII) is acting as consultant on the standalone pictures.
