This is exactly why you should study hard, get good grades and get into USC.

On Friday (May 17), the 2013 graduating class at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles got a special visit from Dr. Dre following Jimmy Iovine’s commencement speech. The Good Doctor and Iovine donated a staggering $70 million to the university to start the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation earlier this week. The new sector of the university will launch the four-year undergraduate program in the fall of 2014. It will focus on entrepreneurship in the entertainment business.

“Yeah, yeah, make some noise Trojans,” Dr. Dre said taking the podium in a dapper suit and tie. Dre kept his speech short and sweet (and didn’t dish that Detox release date.)

“First, I would like to say congratulations to Dr. Jimmy Iovine,” Dre continued. “I would also like to thank all the amazing people here at USC that made it possible for us to build an academy at this incredible university. I’m excited and I am proud to now be a member of the Trojan family. And, I would also like to say congratulations to the University of Southern California’s class of 2013.”

Iovine then ended his speech by quoting R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix).”

The 2012 acceptance rate at USC was only 18%. Time to hit the books and get that GPA up! Only 25 people will excepted into the new Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation program when it launches in a year from now.
