Kicking off All-Star weekend in New Orleans last night, Drake and Lil’ Wayne let the cat out of the bag on Wayne’s Tha Carter V release date. It is set to drop on May 5.
“If you wanna hear Lil’ Wayne at his best, if you wanna hear Young Money at they best… Carter V, May 5th,” said Drizzy. “Just know we about this shit for real.”
Wayne joined Drizzy onstage at the House of Blues All-Star concert hosted by Sprite last night for a run-through of their hit “HYFR” before the bomb was dropped on what the Young Money boss has said will be his final album.

“I know y’all want me around for a little bit and Carter V is my last album,” Wayne told MTV News back in 2012. “I’ve been rapping since I was eight years old. That’s a long time.”
Nicki Minaj shared earlier this week that “Drake’s been in the studio with him,” and Wayne also confirmed with Karen Civil that recording was well underway:
Drake announced Carter V is dropping May 5th! When we spoke yesterday he mentioned they were 6/8 songs in already.

Tha Carter V will come on the heels of Young Money’s second compilation album, Rise of An Empire, which is slated for release on March 11.
