Drake fans showed October's Very Own how much they really love him when they soldiered through the rain during last night's Club Paradise tour stop in Holmdel, New Jersey. Over 15,000 fans from the tri-state area patiently waited for the Toronto-bred rap star who sent the crowd into a frenzy at 9:30PM when he set things off with "Lord Knows."
Drake -- dressed in all black -- ran through his hits, including "Over," "Underground Kings" and "I'm on One" before taking a break to pay respect to friend and Crooks & Castles' Christopher "Lewds" Natalio, who passed away on June 2. "I hope you rest in paradise," Drake said as he poured out a little liquor for Lewds.
Drake would continue to slow things down despite his many proclamations that the Club Paradise tour was one big party. However, the one club-like element of last night's tour stop was the many guests who stopped to party with the rap star. 2 Chainz took the stage and performed his new single "No Lie" while Meek Mill got the crowd pumped with "Amen" and "I'ma Boss." French Montana -- who'll be rocking with Drake for the entire Club Paradise tour -- ran through his hit single "Shot Caller," which was followed by "Stay Schemin'." French, the night's hometown boy, released his new single "Pop That" earlier that day. Drake even treated the crowd to something other than hip-hop and let Mavado run through 2009's "So Special."
The elephant in the room would be the missing guests. Fans begged for Rihanna during "Take Care," and prayed that Lil Wayne or Nicki Minaj would make a surprise appearance to no avail.
By the end of his 90-minute set of YOLO tales, Drake -- who spent the last 30 minutes of the night acknowledging fans -- wrapped up the evening with "Headlines," and alluded to a possible tour that would guarantee that Nicki, Weezy and Drizzy be in the same building.
