Drake Named 2013’s Most Tweeted About Rapper

It’s been a big year for Drake: his third album Nothing Was The Same dropped, he embarked on his first stadium stint with Would You Like A Tour? and bagged some witty features under his belt. Twitter definitely took notice and named the Canuck the most tweeted about rapper in 2013.

Drizzy racked up 52,202,000 tweets over the year, according to MTV News. His recent release NWTS was tweeted about 2,942,000 times, sparking such trending topics as #DrakeTaughtMe, #DrakeTwitterPassword, #NothingWasTheSame, Pound Cake, The Language and Wu-Tang Forever that dominated users’ timelines.

Rap stars Eminem, Lil Wayne and Kanye West also got some digital love. Marshall Mathers was the number one hip-hop related trending topic #RapGod and was the second most tweeted about rapper with a massive 21,271,953 tweets. Weezy followed, with fans tweeting up a storm about his album I Am Not A Human Being II and his hospitalization back in March. He received over 101,000 supportive tweets and trending topics #PrayforLilWayne, #PrayforWayne and #prayforweezy were used consistently.

Mr. West wears the crown for most tweeted about rap album this year with his divisive Yeezus release, which received 4.4 million mentions. His “New Slaves” video appearance on the sides of buildings internationally also kept people talking with more than 500,000 tweets.
