VIBE sat the producer-DJ down to pick his BRAIN on dance music at the Grammies, ("Al Waser-bullsh*t") and some fantasy collabin' with Dizzee Rascal.

Describe the process for creating 'Brainfreeze' as if you were explaining it to a toddler:
“I gave the computer too much ice cream and then it started making these noises...”

Best music advice you ever got?
Chris Lake has to be one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve ever met, and it frustrates the hell out of me how he is right 100 percent of the time. He taught me to stop over-thinking things, that sometimes the simple ideas are the best ones and there’s no need to add needless complexity into a track.

Favorite hip-hop/pop remix right now?
I’m really liking Cazzette’s remix of Bruno Mars, "Locked out of Heaven." They’ve spun the track on its side and turned it into something completely different. The original is definitely one of the most entertaining pop tracks around right now too.

What's good about working with Doorn Records and Ultra Records?
I think the professionalism of Doorn records is something to be admired; they really know how to get music heard by a lot of people.

"EDM" Grammy noms - got any favorites?
Well aside from the Al-Walser bullshit, I think there is no way ‘Levels’ can’t win. That track has been responsible for bringing so many people into EDM. I know it gets a bit of hate now from within the scene because it’s so overplayed, but if you actually listen to it and analyze it, it really is an incredible song.

Name a rapper you'd love to spit a verse on a Lazy Rich track?
I think I’d have to go with Dizzee Rascal. It’s clear he’s already got a very firm grasp on dance music, plus he’d be able to understand my accent.

Any plans for the year we should know about?
Tons! Got some really big collabs in the works with artists like Morgan Page, Syn Cole, Lucky Date, Cazzette and a few others. I’ve got a brand new single called "Insomnia" coming out on the 25th of Feb on Rising Music; it’s a really different track for me, less about the umph and more about the emotion. Going to be interesting to see how people react to it.
