El Debarge Checks Himself Into Rehab

Another day, another celebrity checked into rehab. This time it's R&B legend El Debarge who according to Billboard recently announced he's headed into a rehabilitation center to recuperate from years of past substance abuse. 

"I hate to disappoint my fans but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone," the singer has said in a statement. "I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time."

Although Debarge had two-year prison term stemming from a 2008 arrest for drug possession, the 49-year-old crooner was on his way to comeback mode after a stellar performance at last year's BET Awards and releasing his first project in 16 years, Second Chance. 

El Debarge was set to kick off a spring U.S. tour on Thursday, but has tapped Musiq Soulchild as his replacement.
