Rumor has it that ABC's female gabfest The View is looking to clean house.
First the fiery headed Joy Behar was given the ax but was a good sport about the whole ordeal, offering up her top 10 reasons for leaving The View on-camera. Now, blonde beauty Hasselbeck is facing the same cut, according to a source who told The New York Post Saturday (March 16) that her days are numbered.
“Dumping Joy Behar, who was there 16 years, and Hasselbeck would be the fastest way to do it, they decided,” a source said. “After giving Behar the bad news last week and letting her bow out gracefully, someone leaked the Hasselbeck thing. Some enemies she has on the show saw their chance to get back at her. Barbara was spitting mad that it got mishandled, and called off the firing over [last] weekend.”
Meanwhile, veteran journo Barbara Walters called the story about Hasselbeck "particularly false," and said that Behar's exit will be "bittersweet."
The rumors come at a time where The View is allegedly trying to "freshen" up their cast.
A spokesperson for the show had this to say: "This was all addressed on Monday’s show. [Walters] is not the least bit angry. She loves these women and wants what’s best for them. Everything else is speculation. Producers haven’t begun to search for a new co-host. We have no further comment."
