Ennio Morricone Vows Never To Work With Quentin Tarantino Again!

Ennio Morricone Vows Never To Work With Quentin Tarantino Again!

K. Clark Posted March 15, 2013

What could the 84-year-old cinema composer possibly mean when he says "never"...?

Cinephiles the world over are familiar with Ennio Morricone's work, as his influence carries over the breadth of film. Most recently, Quentin Tarantino, a frequent collaborator with Morricone (Kill Bill, Death Proof), used an original piece called "Ancora Qui" and some older catalog cuts.

However, the celebrated Italian composer has spoken out, in part of frustration of QT's usage of his music, and slammed the Oscar award winning filmmaker.

"I wouldn't like to work with him again, on anything," he stated to a music, film and television class at Rome's LUISS University. The 84-year-old composer complained that Tarantino "places music in his films without coherence," adding, "you can't do anything with someone like that." Choosing to further distance himself from Tarantino, Morricone told the crowd that he wasn't a fan of Django Unchained.

"To tell the truth, I didn't care for it," he said. "Too much blood."

Tarantino's Django Unchained used "Sister Sara's Theme" and "The Braying Mule" from 1970's Clint Eastwood western Two Mules for Sister Sara, as well as "Un Monumento" from 1967's I Crudeli.

Maybe there is more to the story than what meets the eye. Surely, QT got another interview in him that he could share with us here at VIBE.
