Magic Johnson's cabler ASPiRE is adding cultural programming blocks to its fall lineup with Esperanza Spalding as a host.
ASPiRE, the television network from Magic Johnson Enterprises, looks to gain audiences by picking the premiere talent within the industry to host its weekly prime time program blocks for the fall lineup. A new feature, "Groundbreaking Music," will be hosted by Grammy Award winning bassist, vocalist, composer and bandleader Esperanza Spalding. The show will boast performances including "Earth, Wind and Fire Live," "Beyond the Steps: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater" and "Dorothy Dandridge: Singing at Her Best."
Esperanza Spalding, a name synonymous with talent, has become the undisputed first lady of jazz. She has played with Stevie Wonder for President Obama at the White House and went on to become the first jazz musician to win a Best New Artist Grammy.
The series premieres this Friday, October 5 at 8:00 p.m.
