ESPN Urges Facebook To Celebrate Black History Month

ESPN Urges Facebook To Celebrate Black History Month

K. Clark Posted February 22, 2013

Yesterday, ESPN posted a message to its Facebook page that would surely cause a race riot.

What happens when you implore 8.4 million of your followers to "celebrate Black History Month. LOUDLY." on Facebook? ESPN found out the answer the hard way when their plea for universal harmony backfired miserably.

The post contained a link to a Black History Month ESPN video — equipped with a picture of a player who was the centerpiece of a racial controversy, featuring an NFL team with the decidedly politically incorrect "Redskins" and Black History Month is by now 75% over.

Regardless, the imperative that we celebrate the month "loudly" has been roundly rejected by commenters to ESPN's Facebook page... and you can see the best stuff for yourself over at Deadspin.
