Out of the batch of responses Kendrick Lamar received after making kingly claims and name-dropping the next gen of hip-hop’s elite on Big Sean’s “Control,” only one was 15-seconds long. Funny man Kevin Hart joined the timeline frenzy following the song’s release by uploading his own set of bars directed at the Compton rapper on Instagram. “Kendrick Lamar you don’t want this work/ I body people in Benz bigger than pots in dirt,” he raps on the phone-recorded visual, which has racked up over 223,000 likes and counting. But don’t take Hart’s words to heart. The Real Husbands of Hollywood star assures it was just role play. “At the time, everybody was talking about Kendrick and his verse so me being silly with the character Chocolate Droppa,” he tells VIBE of his rap alter-ego. “People fell in love with it.” While Hart, whose stand-up comedy flick Let Me Explain raked in $17.5 million during its opening weekend in July, says there will be no mixtape coming soon, his take on Lamar’s verse actually extends beyond music.
