Facebook Reveals Major News Feed Redesign

Facebook Reveals Major News Feed Redesign

VIBE Posted March 7, 2013

Your Facebook is about to get a... facelift. The company unveiled a new design for its News Feed feature today (March 6) during a press event.

The remodel will include larger images -- makes sense given the number of users straight flexing on Instagram -- and the feed will also be separated into categories, according to Gizmodo, which writes:

"Facebook is splitting up the feed into subcategories—Music, Photos, Games, Friends—so that you're not suffocated with information. Or at least suffocated at a slower, more comfortable rate. Music, for instance, will give you blips about what songs your pals are listening to on Spotify, along with news from the artists you follow."

Facebook changes tend to spark mini mutinies online, so users will likely revolt, but Facebook co-founder/CEO assures, in short, it’s for your own good.

What Happens To Your Facebook After You Die?

"The News Feed is one of the most important things we've built," said Zuckerberg. “The stories around you deserve to be displayed with more than just text... How we're all sharing is changing and the News Feed needs to evolve with those changes. This is the evolving face of News Feed."

The last big Facebook change came in 2011 when the company announced its initially unpopular Timeline feature. Be on the lookout for that new-new.
