The sextastic E.L. James' novel Fifty Shades is ready to make it's full-frontal cinematic debut, but the cast is still under lock and key.
Focus Features announced that the explicit flick will hit theaters Aug. 1, 2014, leaving some time to mix and match potential contenders for the lead roles of the virgin-gone-bad Anastasia Steele and her dashing kinky billionaire man-toy, Christian Grey.
So far, Emma Watson has been ruled out while Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder is a rumored pick for Grey.
“One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project,” Ian recently told Metro. “Everyone has to realize every guy in Hollywood is up for this role. It could be anyone – that’s how that goes.”
Also tossed into the mix have been Twilight power couple Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart, along with Matt Bomer and Shailene Woodley. Even the 23-year-old British actor director/ husband Aaron of the film's director Samuel Johnson-Taylor, 46, was considered for the lead male role only for the studio to shut the rumor down.
To date, the Fifty Shades trilogy has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide.
